The history of venetian Villas that fill the Altamarca landscape, is definitely one of the richest and most fascinating  in our territory. Impressive, elegant, charming and full of mystery villas.

The Villas, that can be seen by passing in Altamarca area, refer immediately to an era of nobility and wealth, when the local families had the domination of the territory. The imposing wall of the fence, that had often depicted the family crest, acted not only as protection against of possible attacks but above all against the prying eyes of the farmers, who often try to spy on the noble women that were there on vacation.

The outdoor gardens, that stretch as far as the eye can see, include: the private church built according to the style of the villa; the stables usually strategically placed behind or besides and the fields to cultivate which were given to the surrounding farmers who were (mis) rewarded with the fruits of the earth.

Already here you can feel the richness of these Venetian families who used to build from their best architects  this Villas to stay mainly in Summer, away from the hot and stuffy Venice. You can imagine how these nobles could spent the time in these huge gardens, among food, talks and walks in good company or with faithful servants in tow

But it is in the richness and beautification of the interior that is expressed all the royalty of that time.  You can notice by entering very high ceilings; huge rectangular rooms with Venetian style floors, where the owner used to stay, inaugurating often many parties to impress their neighborhood and to entertain special guests.  When this happened, the pageantry was soaring, with lot of food, haut couture dresses  shown off for the occasion and vices of all kind. On the walls you can distinguishes the various paintings that often depicted the landlord in scenes of everyday life.

For example, are more than ten the Villas, first commissioned and then frescoed by Gianbattista Tiepolo, one of the greatest painter of the Venetian eighteen century. This continue run-up to beauty and splendor, makes the eighteen century the golden age of Venetian Villas decoration. To relive the glitz of the era many of this villas are still visitable through guided tour. The villas have even been turned into hotels and restaurants. So don’t miss the chance to take a dip into the past and feel part of a such rich and seductive era.
