Company history
The Az. Agricola Col Miotin traces its roots to the early twentieth century, with “Nonno Sante” (Grandad Sante). In the 50’s, the Bottega family began working the land owned by the Brandolini family, as sharecroppers. The land, purchased by the Bottega family about a decade later, now frames the company’s headquarters. The land is located in a small valley between the hills of Solighetto, in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG (i.e. Controlled and guaranteed denomination of origin) area. The shape of the hill, on whose slopes the vineyard is located, gives the impression to be in a beautiful natural theater.
The soil had been worked for years by Girardo, 8th of 9 children, and his brothers Massimo and Albino. In the 80’s, with the death of Massimo, and Albino disease, just Girardo remained to carry on the family business. From now on, the company is exclusively dedicated to viticulture. Initially, only a part of the grape is transformed into wine, which is sold individually, while the rest is attributed to Colli del Soligo cellar.
His son Antonio, after working for 20 years in a furniture factory, with the furniture sector crisis, decided to resign and to move to viticulture world that has always been his passion. Thus it took over the business of his father, that he helped even before in his spare time. With great effort he expanded the business, arriving in 2010 to create the independent brand Col Miotin, which now boasts an annual production of about 30,000 bottles.
The company is constantly evolving, with expansion projects and increased production. Also from the human point of view, it seems that the next generation of Bottega bodes well.
What we do
Col Miotin aims primarily to provide its customers with quality products, as proved by the numerous awards won at various wine exhibitions.
It is specialized in the production of sparkling wines, including the “Sleeping Beauty”, an Extra Dry wine whose name comes from the shape of a woman lying, the same shape of the hills behind the company: these hills also mark the company logo.
Its products also include a sparkling Prosecco Doc (i.e. Controlled Denomination of Origin) , the Sorlye (the so-called wine with the lees), and also a red wine.
The leading products, however, are the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Millesimato, in the Brut and Extra Dry versions.
